Lamb's House Cookery Workshop - 10th May 2025
Saturday 10th May
10am - 4pm
I’m seriously excited to be collaborating with Gunnar Groves-Raines to host this one-off Spring cookery workshop at Lamb’s House, Leith on Saturday 10th May. Originally built in 1610 and once visited by Mary Queen of Scots, Lamb’s House is one of the finest merchant houses in Scotland and has been lovingly restored by Gunnar and his family of conservation architects through their practice, GRAS.
You can read more about the magnificent Lamb’s house in this recent House and Garden article. It’s not every day you get to learn how to cook new recipes in a remarkable, historical space like this and I can’t wait to get everyone around the beautiful kitchen table to teach and eat creations from my upcoming book, Weekend Recipes which I’m publishing on 1st August.
Your schedule for the day:
Arrive at 10am for tea, coffee, baked treats from my new book and an introduction from Gunnar and myself.
Gunnar will give you a guided tour around the house, offering insight into the extensive renovation works completed 400 years after the house was built. From reinstating the trademark half-shuttered windows - echoed in Culross Palace in Fife, to sourcing larch from Siberia for the roof timbers and antique Swedish pantiles for the roof, all materials were chosen for being as similar to the original materials as possible.
We’ll then head to the kitchen table to make fresh pasta together so that you can assemble my wild garlic, farmhouse cider and gruyere lasagne. I’ll guide you on how to prepare, dress and style my favourite Springtime salads, then it’s on to perfecting flaky pastry and the citrus-caramel filling for my Eccles cakes which you’ll eat warm from the oven with clotted cream.
After lunch, you’ll have the chance to stretch your legs with Gunnar taking you round the romantic Renaissance-inspired gardens.
There will be Eccles cakes and recipe notes to take home I’ll have my recipe books available for signing, plus a selection of Elliott’s kitchenware and preserves in case you’d like to make any purchases before heading off around 4pm.
Truly, I can’t think of a more inspiring memorable way to spend a Saturday this May. Excited to see who will be joining us!
This workshop is suitable for all levels of cooking ability, just let me know of any special or dietary requirements when booking. Please note, due to stone stairs and the kitchen being on the second floor up, there is no wheelchair access,
