About Jess Elliott Dennison

Jess is a food writer and the founder of Elliott’s; a community that celebrates simple cooking and life in the kitchen. She has written 3 cookbooks; Salad Feasts, Tin Can Magic and Lazy Baking. In June 2023, Jess sold her Elliott’s Cafe which is listed on Conde Nast’s Best Edinburgh Restaurant List.

Elliott’s Studio, a beautiful green-fronted tenement building on Sciennes Road in Edinburgh is an extension of Jess’s home and where she cooks, writes and teaches. She has run seasonal cookery demonstrations, supper clubs, popups and author events, including with brands Aesop, Wright’s and TOAST.

For the past decade, Jess’s experience has covered all aspects of food, including as a food stylist in Sydney and London where she cooked for TV sets, commercials, magazines and cookbooks. Jess was part of Jamie Oliver’s highly profitable licensing team; developing food products and kitchenware, advertising campaigns and global retail partnerships. She wrote a column for Courier magazine and her cooking has been featured in VOGUE, Stylist, The World of Interiors, Monocle, The Guardian, The Shopkeepers, Homes and Interiors, TAT London, The Scotsman, TOAST and The Independent.

Jess’s work is inspired by the produce, colours, textures and rituals that each season brings. Her Elliott’s retail range includes recycled wool blankets made by her local mill in the Scottish Borders, knives, linens, jams, pickles, kitchenware and an exclusive range of ceramics made in collaboration with Cara Cuthrie and Lily Pearmain.
